IT IS NOT A JOKE.#ALLHAILBIAFRA
I have noticed some miscommunication and misperceptions about what the Biafra movement is about. Here are 9 key facts about the NEW BIAFRA that everyone should know.
(1) Biafran agitation has nothing to do with hydrocarbon crude oil deposits in Niger Delta. Imo, Abia, Anambra are currently oil producing states in Nigeria, with huge natural gas reserves not forgetting the enormous untapped coal deposits in Enugu
(2) Biafra is not land-locked. It has numerous accesses to the sea, including through the River Niger.
(3) Biafra entire population is about 35 million people which is greater than the population many advanced countries in Western Europe, including Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, Austria...etc
(4) Biafra does not or in any form signify war, violence, armed struggle or any sort of physical confrontation. BIAFRA IS NOT WAR! It simply means political, economic and socio-cultural freedom from a feudalist State ruled by terrorists and Jihadists
(5) Biafra is not a call for massive exodus to Igbo land. Put differently, every Igbo or Biafran must not live in Biafra land. Those who wish could still maintain their residency wherever they are as well as own properties anywhere in the world, including Lagos, Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Abeokuta...etc
(6) Independent and sovereign Biafra will never translate to loss or forfeiture of landed properties of her citizens in Lagos, Abuja or anywhere in Nigeria. There are many domestic and international treaties, conventions and laws that protect Assets of non-citizens everywhere in the World that will apply appropriately
(7) The NEW BIAFRA shall be a coalition of desirous and willing ethnic nationalities in defunct Eastern Nigeria and would never be a forceful annexation of any unwilling ethnic nationality within its current geo-political definition. Ijaws, Ogonis, Ibibio, Anangs, Efiks, Ogojas, and host of other ethnic minorities shall possess the privilege to decide whether to tango politically with their Igbo brethren or go their own separate ways or remain part of current structural deficient Nigeria
(8) Biafra is a train of peace and liberty. A desire for liberation from institutionalized stumbling blocks like quota system and federal character principles in Nigeria's quasi-unitary society. It is a movement against internal colonialism, tribal gang-ups, economic marginalization and political subjugation of Igbo and ethnic minority neighbors.
(9) It has nothing to do with hate, bigotry or ethnic chauvinism. Just a desire to live in a healthy society where your tribe, tongue, religion or creed does not define who you are or how far you would go in your career.

Biafran leader Nnamdi Kanu: The man behind Nigeria's separatists
After spending more than a
year-and-a-half in a Nigerian jail without trial on treason charges,
Nnamdi Kanu is now free on bail. The BBC's Stephanie Hegarty explains
who Nwannekaenyi "Nnamdi" Kanu is and why he attracts so much
controversy
Nnamdi Kanu founded the Indigenous People Of Biafra (Ipob) in 2014.The movement wants a group of states in south-east Nigeria, made up mainly of people from the Igbo ethnic group, to break away and form the independent nation of Biafra.
The plan is not new. In 1967 Igbo leaders declared a Biafran state, but after a brutal civil war, which led to the deaths of up to a million people, the secessionist rebellion was defeated.
But the idea of separatism has bubbled away since then and Mr Kanu is the latest in a line of Biafran activists taking up the cause.
He was a relatively obscure figure until 2009 when he started Radio Biafra, a station that called for an independent state for the Igbo people and broadcast to Nigeria from London.
Though he grew up in Nigeria's south-east and went to the University of Nsukka, Mr Kanu moved to the UK before graduating.
Soon after setting up Ipob, he spoke to gatherings of the large Igbo diaspora, calling for Biafran independence. In some of his comments, he urged Biafrans to take up arms against the Nigerian state.
"We need guns and we need bullets," he said in one such address.
And that is what brought him to the attention of Nigeria's security services.

17 people shot at a nightclub in Arkansas
US

that the incident was not terror-related.
The
shooting happened at the Power Ultra Lounge, a club in a two-story
building. Police has since cordoned off the block as crime-scene
technicians gathered evidence from inside and outside the club. G
Little Rock Police said on Twitter that all 17 victims were alive and that one person who had been in critical condition was upgraded to stable."We do NOT believe this incident was an active shooter or terror related incident. It appears to have been a dispute at a concert," the city police said.
Remember All of Obamacare’s Broken Promises?
There were a lot of promises made in selling Obamacare—and it seems like just about all of them have been broken.
They told us if you liked your doctor, you could keep your doctor . . . and yet so many Americans have lost access to their doctors under new Obamacare insurance plans.
They told us if you if you liked your health insurance plan, you could keep it . . . and yet millions of Americans saw their insurance plans canceled because of Obamacare.
They promised that premiums would go down by $2,500 and that everyone in America would be covered. Here’s what President Obama guaranteed back when he was on the campaign trail:
“Our conscience cannot rest so long as nearly 45 million Americans don't have health insurance and the millions more who do are going bankrupt trying to pay for it. I have made a solemn pledge that I will sign a universal health care bill into law by the end of my first term as president that will cover every American and cut the cost of a typical family's premiums by up to $2,500 a year. That's not simply a matter of policy or ideology—it's a moral commitment.”
Both those promises have been broken too.
Far from covering every American, Obamacare has left 28 million uninsured.
In fact, despite all the disruption and the billions in spending, as of February 2017 Obamacare’s exchanges cover just 10.3 million people. That’s less than half the number of Americans the Congressional Budget Office estimated back in 2012 would be enrolled.
And premiums didn’t go down by $2,500 for the average family—they went up by nearly $3,000!

Abia State governor sacks all his commissioners, including top officials
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state has dismissed the state executive council, including commissioners and special advisers as well as senior special assistants.
The Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mr. Onyii Wamah, announced the dissolution in a statement posted on the government’s website on Friday night.
According to the permanent secretary, the governor retained his Chief of Staff, Mr. Sunny Nwakodo, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Obinna Oriaku and Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Chief Umeh Kalu (SAN).
No reason was given for the dissolution but there are speculations that it was after the commissioners and other officials presented their scorecards at a forum attended by the governor between May 28 and May 29.
The statement also announced the appointment of three special advisers to the governor, including the former Commissioner of Works, Mr. Eziuche Ubani, who was appointed as the Special Adviser on Works and Project Monitoring.
Others were Mr. Emma Nwabuko and Mr. Solomon Ogunji, who were appointed as Special Adviser/Personal Secretary to the Governor and Special Adviser on Urban Renewal, respectively.
Last month, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State also dismissed his entire cabinet members in what was said to be a strategic bid to restrengthen his administration.
Kidnap victim narrates how he escaped the night before Evans and his men planned to kill him after holding him for three months
This is such an incredible, sad and heart rending story shared by Vanguard newspaper. A man named Chief Donatus (as he preferred to be identified in story for security reasons), is one of Evan's kidnap victims and he was abducted near his office on February 14, 2017. He was held for three whole months and miraculously escaped from their hideout. In this exclusive interview with Vanguard, the man gave a vivid account of the hair-raising ugly encounter. Read it after the cut...
(Chief Donatus would not want his pictures published as police have not offered him any protection and he is still afraid of the Evans gang)
Excerpts;
On the 14th February, 2017, at about 7:30pm, while I was going home from my office at Ilupeju, I suddenly saw an SUV opposite me. I wanted to reverse but somebody in the front came down with a long gun and dragged me out from my car. He pushed me inside the SUV. Immediately they moved away from the street, they transferred me to the back of the SUV and covered me with a car mat while one of them sat on top of me. They drove me to an unknown place but before we got there, the one at the back with me now put iron (chain) on my hands. There were about five of them in the SUV. I was carried away and didn't know what to say. I was afraid for my life and was thinking whether they were assassins or kidnappers because I have some cases in the court. So, I thought maybe those people are the ones after me.
Trip to hideout
When we got there, they asked me to come down but remain faced down, which I did. The house was a bungalow with a parlour and their generator was on. They asked me; are you Chief Donatus, I said yes, what's your wife's name? I told them. They now told me that they were not going to harm me, that what they wanted was their own share and that I should corporate. After that, they brought out one AK-47 and a pistol with live ammunitions and showed me that this is not a child's play. They now brought out a locally made iron like chain and put on my legs, blindfolded me, then pushed me into one dark room. It was a self-contained room with bathroom and toilet inside. There was a standing fan, one high rise foam with bed spread and curtains on the widow but throughout my stay there, it was not opened even for one day. I was there till the following day. There was no food for me through out that night, but in the morning, they brought Indomie for me after brushing. I took my bath and ate. They asked me not to look at them any time I wanted to bath so when the time comes; I raised the blindfold up a bit, making sure that they did not see me.
Familiar voice echoes
After about two days, I heard a voice that sounds like my pharmacist, Emeke and it was while I was eating, normally while eating, I used to raise the blindfold up small to enable me to see. He asked them where they kept me. As he was talking, ours eyes met and he shuddered. He now withdrew, but before he left, he asked them whether they have contacted my brothers and they said no. I was hearing everything they were discussing. They even asked how they could get to my wife but he told them that my wife doesn't usually come to the office. What I noticed was that, in the first one week, they were not harsh but that changed all of a sudden. I used to brush every morning but it became once in a week. I noticed that, any time they wanted me to bathe, they would come to my room early morning with one small bucket of water and asked me to get up and take my bath. Then after that, everywhere would be so quiet as if nobody lived in that compound. So, in the night before they put on their generator, it used to be around 8:30pm so that the neighbourhood would now think that they have come back from their home while they were inside the house all through without any music and no television. I noticed also that, whenever their boss called them, they would put on one small radio so that neighbours would not hear whatever they were discussing. After five days there, I started getting weak and I asked them how much I have to pay. Their manager now called their chairman and they discussed. Their chairman, as they called him, was not discussing with anybody except the manager, they were three. The manager now came to me and said his boss said my bill was two million dollars. I asked where I would get that kind of money. We don't usually keep money at home; we do borrow from banks to do business. After much pleading, he reduced it to one million dollar. But after two days, he said, he has gotten more information about me and it's no more dollars again, it's one million Euros. At exactly two weeks of my hostage, they contacted my brother through the phone number I gave them. When he called my brother, he asked his manager to connect me, I think it was a conference call because he was hearing the conversation but whenever he wanted to talk to me, he would put it on pause and would tell me what to tell my family.
Negotiation starts
Initially, I was telling my brother that, they said it was one million Euros but he said, "No, that I'm a mad person, that I should tell my brother that I have agreed with them that it is one million Euros" and I did so. My brothers were crying because where would they get such an amount of money. There were times they would be beating me so that my brothers would hear and know that I was suffering. That iron was on my leg throughout my stay in the place except when I was going to bath. They used to serve me indomie twice a day or some times, Semovita with one meat. They used to cook in the house. There was a lady that used to come and cook for them. The lady used to come with a small girl. My brother called and said that there was no money but they managed to gather fifty million and he said my brothers were all mad, that if they did not complete the money, he was prepared to keep me for the next one year and that they were not paying rent and that they were the owners of the house.
For one month, I was there because gathering that money was not easy. I did not know whether I was the only victim there or not because throughout my 90 days incarceration, I was only in that one room. He vowed to collect the ransom complete. My brothers went to collect a lot of money from our relatives. I know when it was one hundred million, but he still insisted. I knew there was a time the exchange dropped, so, he now asked them not to change the money. When he said one million Euros, the Euro was about five hundred and thirty naira per Euro. So, when the rate was dropping, he asked them not to change, that it was now naira they wanted because he thought naira was gaining value, which would have been five hundred million. When my brother now told them that he was not able to get one hundred million, they said he was talking rubbish. It was Tuesday before Easter; my brothers were doing everything to get me out to celebrate Easter with them. He now called my brother and said he should bring whatsoever they had; my brother now told them what he had.
He told my elder brother that he was going to be the one that would deliver the money and that he would shoot his two legs if he tried to joke with them. They were all quarrelling. The manger now took the phone from me and started insulting my brother that, he was very stupid, and very wicked, that he wanted me to die so that he could go and inherit my property. On Thursday, before Easter, I asked the manager about their chairman. I used to chat with them, and I was trying to be friendly with them. Then the manager told me that the chairman travelled to America. He came back the next Sunday after Easter. I now asked; can I talk to my brothers? Because it was like I have already been cut off from the real world.
Effect of Vanguard publication
So, the first publication about my abduction in Vanguard newspapers was on Saturday, then, the chairman (Evans) called his manager and was speaking with anger saying that my brother wanted to kill me. After the call, his manager now came to me to say that, "your brother doesn't want you alive. He went to do a newspaper publication while he has been begging that he doesn't have money. Now, where did he get the money to do the publication?" On Sunday, the chairman called to say that I should thank my God, that if they had published that story in Vanguard before now, there was no way he wouldn't have collected one billion naira from me. Then on Tuesday, the story was everywhere on Facebook. The chairman now called the manager again complaining bitterly about the publication on Facebook. But again, I pleaded with them that my brother didn't have Facebook account just like me. He doesn't have time for all these things, maybe it could be women that did that. They were very angry about that newspaper publication. After that, there was no communication from the chairman even my brothers again.
Calls for change of negotiator
Exactly one month after Easter, he now called again that he didn't want to discuss anything with my brothers again, that I should call another person. I now called my cousin and the manager asked me to tell chairman whenever he called that, my brother wanted to kill me so he should hands off this case. One day after that discussion with the chairman, I heard Emeka, my pharmacist discussing with them. Normally, he did come there every day. Sometimes, he stayed till late night. And I was overhearing his voice. At a point I thought, he was no longer living with his wife because he stayed late there.
Decision to kill me
I heard Emeka discussing with manager but what drew my attention was when the manager said "... .ehh... for that reason, we don't have choice than to kill him, we would kill him. We don't have alternative than to kill him. I overheard Emeka calling my staff from there. He was complaining that I was very wicked, that this was what I have done to some persons. He was complaining that one of my pharmacists was not cooperating. When I now heard that they would kill me, I now encouraged myself that, maybe it's not me. There was a day Emeka came again and said, "If you want to kill him, kill him, in fact, kill him" until that week that I escaped from them on Wednesday, Emeka came again and asked them whether they have killed me. They said no... that it is going to be on Friday night. I said to God, that it has been said that nobody knows when he is going to die but it is like I know when I'm going to die. Even the first day that they made up their mind to kill me, the manager now called the one that travelled to come back so I thought it was going to be that night. I was counting the days because I did not know when my end would come. I didn't even know that this was even almost two months after collecting ransom from my brothers. I didn't know that they collected it. I was told this when I came out. When their Chairman travelled, I thought he travelled to America like his people said or South Africa maybe; he went to save the money. Throughout that Wednesday, I wasn't myself even when they brought the Indomie, I couldn't eat.
Mysterious escape from the dark room
It was on Friday night that my miracle happened. Way back, for the 90 days period of my captivity, I was trying to remove that iron from my leg without success, but that night around 2:00 am to 3:00 am, something asked me to get up and I got up and prayed. After that, the voice said to me that I should try opening that padlock which I did. I squeezed small size of the bed spread and passed it through the padlock and pulled it with little effort once, and the padlock opened. I said to myself, God, if I go and these people catch me, I will die, and if I remain here till daybreak, I would also die. So, the best thing is that, let me go and try it. It was God that opened this padlock, because I know that it wasn't my personal power. That God will lead me out. Before then, I had begged them to be leaving the door linking my room to the parlour open so that I will be getting fresh air from there. Luckily, there was light that night and there was curtain and linen, so I made sure that the inside of my room was darker than the palour so that, even if they opened the curtain and look inside, they would not see me. There were two of them sleeping at the palour and because there was light that night, I couldn't step on anyone of them. I said to my God, I will go; I will go. I left for the palour, from there to the kitchen.
There, I saw another burglary at the kitchen door and I concluded that I could not open it and had to go back through the palour to my dark room again while those people were still sleeping. I carried the iron and put it back on my legs but didn't lock it again. One mind said I should go again, I should go and try, I got up again went through the palour yet, they did not notice, then I closed the back door. Luckily, the wooden door that leads outside was not locked while the burglary was locked at the middle. The upper bolt and the down ones were just held down. When I pushed the upper bolt and the down one, the burglary opened and I now went outside their compound. I saw their gate, I turned the other side and I saw something like ladder resting on the fence. Their fence had broken bottles on top of it but at that point where the ladder was, the broken bottles were not there. That was where I climbed the fence, stepped my foot and jumped to the other compound.
Escape route.
While inside that compound, I knocked at the door of a flat, one man and a woman came out. I told them that, I was a kidnap victim being kept in the other compound; I just managed to escape now, please help me. The man said, "Mr. Man get away from this compound before I call the police or vigilante for you" and I responded, please call the police. The man and his wife went back to sleep leaving me there alone. All of a sudden, everywhere became quiet again. One mind told me that I should go somewhere and hide till day break which I did.
Not up to ten minutes that I left to hide, my abductors now opened their gate looking for me everywhere with their motorcycles. I was in my hideout praying to God to save my life. I was there till day break. I was looking like a mad person. For three months, I had not shaved, everywhere was white, and I was only putting up a dirty boxer that I had worn for the past 90 days without washing. When those couple woke up and saw me, they were surprised and as he wanted to raise alarm, I said no, these people there don't let them know I am here. I said to him, "please sir; can you just put me inside your booth and drive me away from here?" He said no ... he was not going to do that, that I should wait here. He now said he was going to call the chairman of the estate. After about 45 minutes, they came back.
Rescue at last
One young boy that should be above 20 years came with something like a plastic conduit wiring and started chasing me away that, I should go out of the compound and he continued calling me a thief. There was this uniformed security personnel there, he hit me on the leg and I fell down. I was injured while jumping down from the fence. I now walked out of the compound to one school very close to my abductor's gate. I was there as people gathered. I told them that, if these people come and see me here, they would kill me, this is how much I have offered them, that I'm not a thief but they insisted that I should wait until the estate chairman came. I asked what if they come with gun and all of you will run away and they will kill me.
Luckily, one young guy came and listened to me and asked if I could give him my wife's number? I gave it to him, he called and the number did not go through. I then gave him my cousin's number and he got him on phone. So, my cousin told him my story and he was now convinced. From there, we took a bike to the express from where we entered a bus. While inside the bus, people were just staring at me. What they used to blind fold me was a singlet, for ninety days, there was nothing like seeing the sun, so my body turned white. When we got to Idimu police division, we did not spend up to 20 minutes when my brother came.
They now contacted Ilupeju police division where they first made the report. From there, we went to command headquarters where we wasted a lot of time before going to Anti-Kidnapping unit at Surulere. After that, we went to Igando. While going there, I could not recognize the road but the young man that took me out of that place led us to the place. So, when we got to the estate, I was able to recognize the school where they asked me to sit down which was not too far from the place where I was kept for 90 days. I recognized the house by the coconut tree there and I told the security operatives, that this was the house. When we came to the gate, it was locked with a padlock and they have all run away. They had to break it and go inside where their cars, motorcycles and all their properties left behind were there. The security operatives went inside and collected all the weapons they left behind.
Reminiscences
When I heard that they were going to kill me, I said is this how my life was going to end? I was calling my wife, my son and my daughter in my mind, thinking that was the end. Emeka joined me in 2013; he joined me as a sales representative but later became a superintendent. I used to give him goods to sell and return the money. After sometime he stopped retuning the money and I asked them not to give him goods again. I never expected to hear his voice there. Before then, something happened. They started telling me things that I did, it's like they had a lot of information about me. I was told that I gave 40 Toyota Corolla cars to my staff and I said yes, I had 40 marketers and I gave them cars. Everything including my warehouses, they knew. One Sunday in April, I heard Emeka telling them they should go and start working, and that they shouldn't talk about money which I suspected they were transferring goods from my stores to where they would take them out of Lagos. I heard him requesting for form M which could help him out in case of police.
My plea
Now that they have arrested their king pin, Evans, I plead with the police that did this good job to ensure that justice was done in this case. It is obvious that many of his gang members are still on the loose. They should all be rounded up because although I have been freed, I am still not only traumatized but also afraid of my life. It is unfortunate that since I came out of this ugly experience, the police did not deem fit to provide security for me. I have since relocated with members of my family to an unknown place. It is worse even now that I have no means of livelihood. I have been wrecked after borrowing money from banks to pay the ransom. What we are trying to do now is to start paying debt to the bank.

Donald Trump is ending Michelle Obama's girls education program
US President, Donald Trump's administration will not
continue a signature girls education initiative championed by former
first lady Michelle Obama.
According
to an internal memo, the "Let Girls Learn" program, which she started
in 2015 to facilitate educational opportunities for adolescent girls in
developing countries, will cease operation immediately. While aspects of
the initiative's programming will continue, employees have been told to
stop using the "Let Girls Learn" name and also that as a program
unto itself, "Let Girls Learn" was ending.
'Moving forward, we will not continue to use the 'Let Girls Learn' brand or maintain a stand-alone program. The program provided a platform to showcase Peace Corps' strength in community development, shining a bright light on the work of our Volunteers all over the world. We are so proud of what 'Let Girls Learn' accomplished and we have all of you to thank for this success'.
Celebrating National Small Business Week
Today I had the privilege to celebrate National Small Business Week
with the Small Business Administration and small business owners from
all across America.
Since 1963, the White House has honored America’s small businesses by marking this National Small Business Week and recognizing the tremendous contributions that small businesses make to our country every single day.
Just this weekend, President Trump declared that “small business owners embody the American pioneering spirit and remind us that determination can turn aspiration into achievement.”
I know firsthand how true that statement is. I grew up in a small business family in a small town in Columbus, Indiana. I went to work at my father’s gas station when I was only 14 years of age. And as the world knows, President Trump grew up in a family business, too.
We both know the sacrifices that are required to make a business work. And we know that when small business is strong, America is strong.
A stunning 99.7 percent of all American businesses are small businesses. And no fewer than 57 million Americans work for small businesses – nearly half of all private-sector jobs in the United States.
Our economy, from coast to coast, depends every day on small businesses.
President Donald Trump wants to help them become stronger and more successful than ever – because this President is the best friend that America’s small businesses will ever have.
On Day One, President Trump went right to work picking a world-class cabinet full of business leaders who know what small businesses need to succeed.
He has signed more bills cutting job-killing regulation than any President in American history. And he’s instructed every agency in Washington, D.C. to find two regulations to get rid of before issuing any new ones.
President Trump authorized the Keystone and Dakota pipelines to protect America’s energy future. We’re cutting back the mandates and rules that are raising energy costs and making it harder for small businesses to grow and get ahead.
No matter where you look, President Trump has taken decisive action to get government out of your way – so that America’s small businesses can do what they do best – innovate, create jobs, and grow.
Just last week, President Trump laid out his plan for one of the biggest tax cuts in American history. We’re going to cut taxes across the board for working families, small businesses, and family farms.
We’re going to repeal and replace Obamacare – to end its burden on America’s job creators and to give the American people the low-cost, world-class health care they deserve.
We’re going to keep slashing through red tape and rein in unelected bureaucrats so they can’t cripple the economy from the comfort of their taxpayer-funded desks.
We’re going to roll back Dodd-Frank so that small businesses have full access to the best financial system in the world.
And we’re going to pass an infrastructure package so that America has the best roads, the best bridges, the best highways, the best airports, and the best future we’ve ever had.
Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re going to do all this and more – so that every small business, and anyone who dreams of someday starting a small business, has the best shot at success.
This week we celebrate all that small businesses have achieved, and all that they do for America every single day. I have faith that under President Donald Trump, America’s small businesses will continue to lead the way – to drive our economy and foster a brighter future for their communities and our country – just as they always have.

We waited 60 days to have sex - Tyrese Gibson and his wife Samantha Lee reveal
The
'Fast and Furious' actor who had gone on a radio tour in NYC, to
promote his movie 'Fate of the Furious' with his wife, were given some
air time to divulge details on their coupledom on SiriusXM radio with
host, Jenny McCarthy.
According to the couple, they waited 60 days to have sex because of their Christian faith.
'I’ll tell you proudly, we got active and it was so much magic,' said Tyrese. 'We decided to go 60 days without. We decided to become born-again virgins. We’re both Christians. We went from December 14 to February 14. It was hard—I mean, challenging!'
When McCarthy assumed that they 'dry humped like eighth graders,' Samantha shut her down saying:
Samantha: 'No, not even that. We didn’t kiss…”
Tyrese: “We did kiss. I just had to calm you down…”
Samantha: “It wasn’t like that…”
Tyrese: “Baby, don’t be embarrassed it was harder for you to get through the 60 days more than me. Just say it!”
On when they first met:
Tyrese said, 'We met through mutual friends in Atlanta.'
Jenny McCarthy: 'Was it love at first sight, Samantha?'
Samantha: 'The first time I met him I thought he was attractive but I didn’t trust him because he’s Tyrese.'
Speaking on their first date, Samantha said,
'When we met up again 2 years later. We had a very honest first date. He had reassured me that this wasn’t about hooking up, this was about actually meeting somebody.
Tyrese:
'My exact words were, ‘I want you to know that I’m not lacking sex in my life. So let’s take that off the table.’ It gets better, I also said, ‘I want you to know that my motivation is not sex. I don’t want you to look at everything I’m saying and doing as I’m only and specifically motivated by trying to get you in bed. We can go months and months without sex.'
Tyrese Gibson and Samantha Lee got married on Valentine's day, February 14, 2017.

Aftermath of US air strikes in Syria: Russia suspends agreement that prevents direct confrontation with American forces
Now, in response to what Russia has termed 'unlawful', the Russian government has announced that henceforth it has suspended the "deconfliction line" agreement signed in 2015 that prevents direct conflict/confrontation between Russian and American forces on air.
The development, is not a good sign for both countries, because under the agreement, signed after Russia launched an air campaign in Syria in September 2015, a Russian fighter jet couldn't clash with an American fighter jet as both Russia and the US had exchanged information about their flights to avoid incidents on air.
But as it stands now, a Russian jet could clash with an American jet in the ever busy Syrian airspace- leading to a possible war.
Following Donald Trump's much praised attacks on the Syrian military base, Russia has not only criticized the U.S for disobeying International law, but has also said they will need a very good explanation from the U.S or else the Russia-U.S relationship will deteriorate further.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, condemned the US strikes.
A statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry read:
"The very presence of US troops and other countries on the territory of Syria, without the consent of the Government or the decision of the UN Security Council is a gross, obvious and unwarranted violation of international law.
"If before it was due to the task of combating terrorism, now there is a clear act of aggression against a sovereign Syria. US Actions taken today further destroy the Russian-American relations."Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said;
'Moscow demands an explanation from the US over the air strikes,The attack is an act of aggression with an invented pretext. We hope the provocation would not lead to irreparable damage to our ties ''The U.S attack missiles targeted "aircraft, hardened aircraft shelters, petroleum and logistical storage, ammunition supply bunkers, air defense systems, and radars," according to the Pentagon news release.

The Certificate Scandal and the Rising Trend of Suicide By Reno Omokri
Article
written by Reno Omokri. Please read on..I read the statement by the
Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity, Garba
Shehu, saying that President Muhammadu Buhari is not involved in any
certificate scandal and I was rather surprised that a professional like
Garba, whom I know to be a polished media man, would even have responded
to that story from The Punch Newspaper in the first place.
The
response was unnecessary. As a Presidential spokesman, you do not
respond to every story. In fact, under President Obama, there was a
template in the White House which was that if multiple media networks
are not carrying a story then it is not worth responding to it because
by responding to a small story, you make it a big story. You give it the
attention that makes other news houses interested in it and that is
what Garba Shehu's statement did.
Now, to say
that President Buhari does not have a certificate scandal is an act of
dishonesty and to quote Edmund Burke, Garba is being economical with the
truth.
The
Presidency is being clever by half by saying that President Muhammadu
Buhari, like Dino Melaye, is not involved in a certificate scandal. That
is patently dishonest. President Buhari DOES have a certificate
scandal.
If the
President does not have a certificate scandal, how come he hired
thirteen high priced Senior Advocates of Nigeria to defend him in a case
brought to compel him to provide the certificate or proof that he has
one, including one SAN, Kola Awodein, who gave a 'gift' of ₦500,000 to
Justice Ademola, the judge handling the case against the President, at a
time the case was pending before him!
A man who has
no certificate scandal will simply produce the original certificate or
if it is lost he will apply to the University of Cambridge International
Examinations for a Certified True Copy of his results. You do not need
to defend the truth with 13 SANs. The truth will defend itself.
Now, do not
get me wrong. I am not saying that Buhari has no GCE Certificate. I do
not know if he has or does not have a certificate. What I know is that
the story keeps
changing. We read that the Nigerian Army had his certificate until they
denied. Then we were told that the certificate was seized by the
Babangida administration when Buhari was overthrown in 1985. We have
also read that the certificate is with President Muhammadu Buhari's
provincial school in Katsina. Which is it? Your guess is as good as
mine. What I am saying is that except hiring thirteen SANs is part of
his strategy for fulfilling his campaign promise of employing three
million Nigerians in two years, it is safe to conclude that President Muhammadu Buhari HAS a certificate scandal! A confirmed one.
On January
21, 2015, the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, even intervened
and said that they could assist in verifying the certificate if only
then candidate Buhari would officially request them to.
On that date,
WAEC's spokesman, Mr. Yusuf Ari said, "WAEC cannot take any action
except, the owner of the certificate asked us to do so. We are an
independent body, therefore, we cannot be partisan on this issue."
Would it be
far easier to just ask the relevant authorities to release the documents
as Mr. Ari said, than to hire thirteen SANs?
In fact, I
wish the efforts by Dino Melaye's enemies in the All Progressive
Congress to verify his certificates can be applied to verifying the
certificate of another powerful man in the APC. We should not treat Dino
Melaye one way and President Muhammadu Buhari another way. If they
think Dino Melaye is unfit to hold his Senatorial seat because he did
not graduate from university (which is untrue) then they should apply
their logic to all political office holders no matter how high they are.
If Dino must present his certificate then others must also present
their own too! What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander!
For the
avoidance of doubt, the minimum educational requirement to contest a
Senate seat is the equivalent of a West African Senior School
Certificate Examination. There is absolutely no doubt that Dino Melaye
has one. Yet so much pressure was piled on him because of his Bachelor
certificate simply because he ruffled the 'cabal's' feathers.
If
questionable certificates are the issue then it is not Dino we should be
looking at! There is somebody who has more questions about his school
certificate than Dino. Why are we shining the spotlight on Dino and
pandering to President Muhammadu Buhari? Just as the Senate Summoned the
Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University to give evidence in this
matter, the Senate should likewise summon the representative of
Cambridge International Examinations to answer questions about President
Muhammadu Buhari's certificate!
In a nation
in recession with two of the deadliest terror groups on earth, our
fixation is on the certificate of a Senator without executive power!
That is the problem with Nigeria's leadership. Our current leaders
cannot spend time planning the progress of this nation, but they can
devote razor like focus to planning the downfall of real and perceived
enemies even to the smallest and most ridiculous detail!
And the fact
that the spotlight on Dino Melaye's certificate is being shone by
elements within the APC is yet another example of how divided that party
is.
This is even
as the recent contretemps between Malam Nasir El-Rufai and some
mandarins in the 'cabal' has shed more light on why the Buhari
administration has failed to deliver the goods it promised.
Never in the history of Nigeria have we ever had a government so divided against itself.
The Nigerian
Customs Service Versus Nigerian Senate, the Directorate of State
Security Versus the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, Nasir El-Rufai
Versus Chief of Staff and the Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Versus The
Nigerian Senate, Aisha Buhari Versus the Cabal, Asiwaju Bolaji Tinubu
Versus John Oyegun, Abike Dabiri Versus Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Raji Fashola Versus Akinwunmi Ambode.
Yet you
wonder why this government cannot deliver! If the grass suffers when
only two elephants fight, what do you think will happen to the grass
when all the elephants are fighting simultaneously? A government that
uses all its energies to fight itself will not have any energy left to
fight for you!
And to make
matters worse, the Buhari administration and the APC keep saying former
President Jonathan ruined Nigeria for five years. Yet in those five
years you had affordable food, fuel, dollars and regular salary at the
federal level.
Moreover,
Jonathan did not spend unspecified sums of money on his health abroad
neither did he write letters to the National Assembly defending members
of his cabinet caught red handed in corruption.
Perhaps
Jonathan ruined Nigerian by reviving our previously moribund railways
and made it possible for you to travel by rail from Lagos to Kano at a
cost of ₦1500? Perhaps he ruined Nigeria by building the ONLY standard
gauge modern railway that makes it possible for you to live in Kaduna
and work in Abuja? In fact, I am sure Jonathan ruined President Buhari's
home state of Katsina, by building the ONLY federal university in that
state. If ruining is what Jonathan did for five years, then what will
you call what President Buhari has done to Nigeria in the last two
years?
It is now
tickety-boo in the mind of the apparatchiks of this administration to
lay the blame for all their problems on Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, but there
is only one small problem.
In January 2015, then candidate Muhammadu
Buhari released a campaign ad with a picture of him that said and I
quote "if anything goes wrong, I will take responsibility and fix it.
THAT IS WHAT IT MEANS TO LEAD" (emphasis President Buhari's, not mine).
Going by the
above words of President Muhammadu Buhari himself, we can see quite
clearly that judging him by his own standards, the only possible verdict
is that he has failed as a leader because two years into his
administration he has yet to to "take responsibility and fix it" and is
still blaming his predecessor.
By constantly
blaming Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for the woes of his government, President
Buhari is saying that a man in retirement in Otuoke has more influence
over his administration than he as President does. The reality is that
the penchant to blame the previous administration shows that ex
President Jonathan is more powerful in his absence from power than
incumbent President Buhari is with his presence in power.
Saying
anything to get elected and then breaking the promises you made after
you are elected is deception and the worst form of corruption!
But in truth,
what derailed the Buhari administration and the APC is that they
focused all their energies on destroying Goodluck Jonathan, the PDP and
the Transformation Agenda instead of concentrating on building Muhammadu
Buhari, the APC and the Change Agenda.
Leaders must
realize that power is like fire. You can only make progress with fire if
you use it to light the way in darkness. But if you use it to burn your
enemy's house, after burning his house, the wind will spread the fire
to your own house. Good leaders focus on making progress, bad leaders
are fixated on revenge. You cannot combine both. You must choose one or
the other and President Buhari made the wrong choice.
And the
fixation of the Buhari administration on blaming Jonathan and fighting
its real and perceived enemies has meant that only minimal attention is
being given to the economy with the consequent effect being that a man
who inherited the third fastest growing economy in the world from former
President Jonathan has turned Nigeria into a nation with the world's
fourth worst performing currency!
The effect of President Buhari's mishandling of the economy has been catastrophic on the lives of Nigerians.
Never in the
history of Nigeria has suicide been so widespread as it is today. There
is so much despair in the land. We obviously need permanent police
presence around the Lagoon in Lagos. But my thinking is that even if we
police the lagoon, how many suicides go unreported in cities, towns and
villages across Nigeria?
And even in
the Nigerian Police Force, there is a rising wave of suicide amongst
officers and men which has become so prevalent that the police
authorities themselves have been forced to take action,
At the
beginning of the year, the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 5,
Abubakar Mohammed told newsmen that he had received a mandate from the
Inspector General of Police to intervene to stem the rising trend of
suicide within the force. He said and I quote “the IGP has asked us to
now go close to our officers as well as the rank and file to know what
their problems are because the level of suicide within the police is
getting higher. Police officers are killing themselves without knowing
what the problems are”.
So if those
who are meant to prevent suicide have some of the highest rates of
suicide within their midst, what are we to do as a nation?
I am reminded
at this time of Proverbs 29:2 'When the righteous are in authority, the
people rejoice: but when the wicked bears rule, the people mourn.'
This is not
about PDP or APC. If doctors and business men and women are being moved
to suicide, what about the increasing number of unemployed? I call on
churches to shift focus from miracles and financial breakthroughs to
extending love to the broken, lonely, unemployed and abandoned in their
communities. Sell your founders private plane and use the money to feed
thousands as Jesus fed thousands!
Though there
is so much gloom in the land, I want to end this piece on a positive
note, so I will leave my readers this week and every other week with one
of my wisdom nuggets which form the basis of my ministration as a
pastor and an ambassador of Christ.
Reno's Nuggets:
Don't ask for
money from wealthy men. Ask for friendship. A beggar of a rich man is
poor. A friend of a rich man becomes rich. You see, people remain poor
because when they get money they think of the latest phone or shoe
instead of a business idea to invest in. But when you befriend the
wealthy, you learn to think like them. Finally, you can only become
successful by association if you hang out in places where the people you
want to be like hang out #RenosNuggets
