 The Director of the Kano office of State Security Service, SSS, Abdullahi Chiranchi, has died. He died today at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital following complains of stomach cramps. He will be buried today in Katsina state according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace Amen.

Quite a number of the kinsmen of former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori, were at the Benin Airport in Edo State to welcome him. Ibori arrived on Chartered flight and immediately proceeded to his village in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta state. Many politicians who turned up at Osubi airport in Delta state waiting for him to land there followed him to Oghara where they plan to give him a rousing welcome.

Operatives of the Department of State Security, DSS, have picked up former Delta state governor, James Ibori. A source at DSS says he was picked up for a routine questioning with the Director General of DSS, Lawal Daura. The source added that he will not be detained.  

Donald Trump sanctions Iran after they launch ballistic missile test

U.S President Donald Trump's administration on Friday placed new sanctions on Iran for its test of ballistic missiles last week, saying Iran defied a United Nations Security Council resolution by carrying out the test.

Earlier this week the U.S put Iran on a ''notice" list and has now followed that up more aggressively with the new sanctions - the sanctions will cover Iranian companies and individuals involved in production, resaerch and funding of the missile test, ban of those providing support to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' Qods Force, and freezing of American bank accounts and assets of people/companies involved in the missile test.

National Security Adviser Michael Flynn said the move was "provocative" and Trump has refused to rule out military action if Iran continues it's nuclear program.

"Iranian leaders must feel sufficient pressure to cease deeply destabilizing activities, from sponsoring terrorist groups to continued testing of ballistic missiles," Bi-partisan lawmakers wrote in a letter addressed to Donald Trump on Friday.

"Full enforcement of existing sanctions and the imposition of additional sanctions on Iran for its ballistic missile program are necessary," the letter said.

The move by the U.S Treasury Department under Donald Trump's orders to sanction Iran also attracted praise from senators.

"Iran's dangerous and provocative acts are a direct threat to the United States and our allies," said House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce in a statement.

 "I'm glad the administration is taking long-overdue steps to hold the regime accountable."

The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to publications in the media on the planned protests slated for 5th and 6th February, 2017 in Lagos and other States by different groups, one to be led by the popular musician INNOCENT IDIBIA aka TUFACE and other opposing groups.

2. Nigeria Police Force is deeply concerned with the security implications with regard to the planned protest/demonstrations, and as the lead security Agency in the country, is fully aware and recognizes the constitutional rights of every citizen (including Tuface and his group) to assemble and move freely in any part of the country.

3. In this regard, the Force is also cognizant of its constitutional responsibilities of taking any proactive/ preventive security measures:-

i. In the interest of public safety, public order, public morality or public health.

ii. For the purposes of protecting lives and property, as well as the constitutional rights and freedom of other citizens.

4. The Nigeria Police Force is currently in possession of credible intelligence reports that other interest groups are equally planning to hold a counter protest/matches on the same days at the same places/cities as the Tuface Group. Ivanka Trump's brand dropped from luxury department store, Nordstrom

Nordstrom has revealed that they will stop carrying Ivanka Trump's brand. This comes after the Grab Your Wallet campaign, which called for shoppers to boycott retailers that carry Ivanka Trump or Donald Trump goods.

The department store chain which offers thousands of brands revealed that they decided to remove Ivanka's brand from their site due to poor sales.

“We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance. In this case, based on the brand’s performance, we’ve decided not to buy it for this season,” a statement from the company read.

However, some believe the brand might have been pulled off due to pressure from the #GrabYourWallet campaign. The co-founder of the campaign, Shannon Coulter, felt so too and gleefully shared the news on her Twitter accounts, thanking supporters of the campaign for making it happen.

“I am absolutely thrilled, and I know the vast majority of Grab Your Wallet participants will be as well,” said Shannon Coulter.

Nordstrom was one of the first retail partners to stock Ivanka's footwears, and they had earlier faced criticisms from the Grab Your Wallet campaigners who tried to force the store to drop brands that belong to the Trumps.

In reaction to the criticisms, in November last year, Pete Nordstroms, Co-president of Nordstrom, defended its decision to sell Trump products.

“This is a sharply divisive subject. No matter what we do, we are going to end up disappointing some of our customers. Every single brand we offer is evaluated on their results -- if people don’t buy it, we won’t sell it.” Nordstrom said.

The company went on to post a response on Twitter to an open letter calling for Nordstrom to stop selling the Trump brand.

“We hope that offering a vendor’s products isn’t misunderstood as us taking a political position; we’re not. We recognize our customers can make choices about what they purchase based on personal views and we’ll continue to give them options.”

If the statement by Nordstrom is anything to go by, then it appears the customers made good on their threat and stopped buying, leading to a drop in sales, hence the decision by Nordstrom.

Another corp member dies in Bayelsa state orientation camp

A corps member identified as Jumoke who was in platoon 8 at Kaiama grammar school in Kolokuma LGA, Bayelsa state, has died. The state camp director, Mrs Loto officially broke the news to the corps members this afternoon as she pleaded with them not to hide their ill health as it is those who are alive that can serve the nation.

In November 29th, 2016, a corps member, Miss Elchi Chiyerom also died at the Kaiama camp, Bayelsa State due to ill health.

Jose Mourinho storms out of interview as he moans about preferential treatment of Klopp & Wenger

After Manchester United's miserable and vague 0-0 draw with Hull City last night, a grumpy and visibly irritated Jose Mourinho blasted the FA, saying he gets on the wrong path of the FA all the time compared to his rivals Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp.
Jose Mourinho's anger was aimed at match referee Mike Jones over Hull's time-wasting tactics and refereeing decisions that didn't go Man U's way.
Mourinho stormed out of the TV interview at 88 seconds when asked to be specific about his complaints, telling the journalist  'If you don't know football, you shouldn't be with a microphone in your hand.'

'You know clearly that I am different. The rules for me are different. I am different in everything.'
'I (had to) watch my team play in a hotel, I was forbidden to go to the stadium, my assistant had a six-match stadium ban and he didn't touch anyone.'

And in a thinly veiled swipe at Klopp he added: 'On Tuesday, one fourth official told a manager: "I enjoy very much your passion, so do what you want to do".
'Today I was told "sit down or I have to send you to the stands", so everything is different for me. Don't ask me questions that put me in a difficult situation.'
'If I speak I am punished. I don't want to be punished,' added Mourinho. 'I'm not happy with the result. I won't criticise the opponents because they are fighting for their lives. Every point for them is golden.
'They have to fight with everything they have. They tried to see what they were allowed to do. The referee gave the feedback. And then they were comfortable doing what they did for 90 minutes. I'm not critical of the opposition because they are fighting for their lives.
'If I was in your place I wouldn't ask the manager. I would just see and write what is my opinion. If I was on your side, I wouldn't be asking the United manager. Just write what is happening during almost every game with us.'

They had their feedback, they were comfortable then to do what they did and I'm not a critic of that because they are in the position they are. They are fighting for relegation, every point for them is gold and I'm not critic with them.

Rapper, Pope Skinny apologises after requesting for Ghana's second lady to be his 'Sugar Mummy'

Controversial Ghanaian rapper and OAP, Pope Skinny has tendered an apology over his recent comment made on Samira Bawumia, the second lady of Ghana. The rapper was said to have confessed his love for the second lady on live radio, in spite of his knowledge that she is married to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

'Bawumia’s wife has no size. Can someone get me her number so that I tell her that I want her to be my sugar mummy? I am in love with the woman…Forgive me Bawumia, you are my man but I am really in love with your wife. I wish I would have her for myself.' he said on Adom FM.

But after the Mamprugu Youth Association (MAYA), a development-based youth group in the Northern Region ordered the OAP to issue an apology over his comment.

The ‘Akuapem rapper’ in a statement tendered an apology explaining that he was only diverting the attention of Ghanaians from the controversy that arose from President Akufo-Addo’s cough during his inaugural address on January 7.

'My comment was not intended to get on the nerves of any Ghanaian but to divert attentions from the President’s cough brouhaha which was trending shortly after the inauguration,' he said.

The fan who was at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for Real Madrid game against Real Sociedad was spotted carrying a plaque that said, 'Sergio, If you give me your shirt, I'll give you a tray of pork in lard.'

Donald Trump changes Black History Month to African American History Month

 Every U.S. president since 1976 had designated February as Black History Month ...but uncle Trump has changed it to National African American History month. Below is how TMZ reported it

A senior administration official tells TMZ, after meeting with African American leaders, he believed the consensus was that the term "black" is outdated, and the more appropriate way to refer to the community is "African American."

The official added, Trump was mindful of the new addition to the Smithsonian ... the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Nicki Minaj's home burgled by thieves

Nicki Minaj is about $200k worse for wear after a burglary at her L.A. mansion ... TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell us the 11,500 sq. ft palace was totally trashed on the inside. The suspect or suspects knocked over and flipped furniture and items all over the house ... almost as if they were frantically looking for something.

They were successful. We're told the burglars made off with a ton of jewelry and other property, and there were clear signs of forced entry in spots around the house.

Other sources connected to the case tell us the damage looks like this was personal. They vandalized certain items in the house ... destroyed picture frames, perfume bottles, furniture ... and even cut up Nicki's clothing.

Nicki's team reported the burglary earlier this week. She was out of town. We're told police are looking for any surveillance video of the culprit, but as of now ... no suspects.

Photos: Tragedy averted as petrol tanker burst into frames in Orji, Imo State

Scores escaped death as a petrol tanker burst into flames at a local petrol station in Orji, Imo State.

With timely intervention from NEMA, Fire Service and NSCDC, inferno was controlled and quenched with less damage to properties and no loss of life.

 

The incident happened on Friday, January 27, when the loaded truck was discharging the content at the petrol station.

Obituary of IPOB member killed during Trump rally released, to be buried tomorrow

Ndubueze Johnson Okoli, 20, shot during the Trump rally organised by IPOB in Port Harcourt on the 20th of January 2017 (Read here) will be buried tomorrow in his hometown in Orumba South, Anambra State.

The obituary to that effect was shared by Prisca Chiamaka Abel on Facebook.  The service of songs will hold today.

Ndubueze was allegedly shot by Nigerian soldiers who invaded the rally, despite claims by IPOB that they sent a letter to request for permission to hold the rally.
